The days become longer at an incredible speed now. As I am writing this, it’s almost 21:00h and still dim light outside (the sun set at 20:00h) and the sun rises again at about 5:45h, which only leaves about 6 hours of total darkness. In April. Shorter nights bring also a decreasing likelihood of seeing the northern lights. I have had several occations now to see them very faintly at the horizon, hardly more than a shadowy dim glow behind the trees and by far not as bright as they seem to be on pictures. Whenever they were strong, it was cloudy, but on very clear skies sometimes I was lucky to at least see a shimmer. So here are some pictures:

I don’t think there will be many more chances to see northern lights this season, so I am all the more excited for the next fall and winter to come!
