The frosty days are fading and the air is feeling mild on my cheeks. While I really enjoyed those frosty days with - 30°C and sparkling frost in the air, I start to realize how hard they were. This constant feeling of "I hope I can keep my house warm enough" and the dread of being outside for even short amounts of time made it so hard to really enjoy the beauty around me. The freezing cold air caused me to have really dry skin and nosebleeds on some days and I didn't even get close to taking walks as much as I would have liked to - it was simply too cold.
I can't believe how fast things change now! Only 2 weeks ago it was - 20°C and the snow was soft and fluffy underneath my feet and all over the trees. Now it has melted to a hard icy mass and the trees lie bare, creating a strong contrast to the white on the ground.
I will never get enough of the moon. Today I saw the full moon rising in a pink sky while the sun was going down. I didn't have my camera with me but for once I found that to be a good thing. I was driving and while I always see very beautiful things on my way, I also feel stressed about not being able to capture them. But with my camera not near me I could just enjoy being in the moment, surrounded by this incredible beauty while driving towards the weekend. 🤍
On instagram I have met some amazing people. One of them being the super creative and talented @woodland.soul . The outfit in this image is inspired by one of her pictures. Our friendship started when she drew a picture inspired by a photo that I had put up on instagram a long time ago and after that a beautiful snailmail friendship developed. I have had so many ideas to take photos resembling her watercolor art, but something always seemed to be off and I felt like I could not get it quite right. Even this time I was struggling with the pictures because some detail (angle, pose, lighting) always seemed wrong. But I have come to the conclusion that I should not let such minor things stop me to follow an inspiration. But maybe you can spot the picture in her gallery that inspired this photo!
In winter, once the snow comes, everything is so smooth and even and pure that it's easy to forget the hardships. But after a few weeks with deep snow and the knowledge of spring still being months away, an awareness for reality returns.
I recently bought an analogue camera second hand. Mostly because I really like the aesthetic, but I also bought some analogue films that finally arrived and now I can't wait until I have shot all photos on the film and get to send it in for development. I even bought a negative scanner and can hopefully view the photos on my computer as well once I get the negatives, so I am really excited about all of this! 🤩 Anyone else photographing analogue?
Walking in winterwonderland...
Today it rained. For the first time in weeks we have had mild plus degrees and now the snow has fallen from all the trees, heavy and wet from the onsetting process of thawing.
My favourite little cabin up by the lake uphill. Soon we are having plus degrees again and then all the beautiful snow will disappear. First from the trees and then slowly over the course of probably a few weeks even from the ground. Considering the amount of snow it is probably going to be a muddy spring and I can't wait to get out there into my garden, getting my hands dirty while preparing everything for the summer when I will do gardening again.
