I used to hate winter. It was my least favourite season!
I feel cold easily and in Germany winter is usually a very dark and grey period of time, without snow and with a lot of rain, clouds and mud. It is not what it used to be when I was a child and the last winter, when we had lots of snow was in 2010, when I was still in school. It was literally „usselig“ which is a German dialect word for really uncomfortable weather.

So winter back in Germany did not have a lot to offer and ended up being a season that I just wanted to get over with as soon as possble. Needless to say, spring used to be my favourite, as it meant that the dreadful time of winter was finally over.
But now, living in Sweden, winter has become my favourite season. I can’t get enough of the coziness of long nights. The countless stars in the sky, the moonlight reflecting in the snow, the frost sparkling in the trees like an army of diamonds and a chance to get a glimpse of the magical northern lights. Honestly, what could be better?
