So much is happening at once and there is change everywhere. Sadly, the weather has been so extremely windy the last few days, which makes it difficult to be outside.
"Alles neu macht der Mai" is a German saying loosely translating to that everything is renewed in May and I always liked the sound of it, but this year I feel like this is especially true here in Sweden. Within just a few weeks our surroundings turned from still halfway covered in snow to lush green and blooming and even though the last few days have been cold, windy and rainy again I am enjoying this spring to the fullest. Every spare second I have I spend in the garden and I love how the creativity just rolls over me. Even though there are still so many other things to do, today I spontaneously dug out a new garden bed under a beautifully blooming tree and planted some perennials that had started to spread in other flower beds. I hope they will like their new home and start growing just as much as before.
Everything in the garden is growing so quickly and I am doing hardly anything anywhere else than in the garden. There is so much to do - digging, planting, sowing, organizing, watering and it has been hard work to manage with all of this since the snow has melted. But now slowly it feels like we are not that far behind the season anymore, almost all bulbs are in the ground and we can finally start to focus less on what *needs* to be done and more of what we *want* to change in the garden. It's so much work and so much fun!
The light in the evenings is so beautiful now and today yet another day has passed spent in the garden. The trees are green now and the sun so powerful during the days that it's almost hard to be outside in the sun because it gets so hot.
We have had such a beautiful time when the snow faded and it's even more beautiful now that everything explodes in different shades of green. Small leaves are sprouting from the trees and more and more of our perennials are coming back. I have started to plant out some of our seedlings, some took it better than others, but I am still so happy to finally be planting!
Goodbye winter, goodbye snow, I'm so glad to see you go.
The last northern lights have been a few weeks ago and with the nights increasingly bright, this aurora season is over. And spring is finally on the way. The snow in our garden is finally making an exit, giving way to more and more bare ground that we can finally start to take care of again. The ground is still frozen, but now it's not gonna be long before we can plant all the little plants growing in our home outside.
I can't believe it's May already. The last few months have passed by in such a rush and it's incredible how much snow we still have in our garden this year.
I am so tired of the snow right now. I love winter and I love the north, but today we got a new load of ankle deep snow, once again covering up all the places the ground had finally become bare. Luckily the temperatures keep rising and we will get lots of rain the next few days, hopefully making the snow disappear again just as quickly as it came.
